Vietnamese firm secures $61m equipment deal for US data centers, power plants

A leading Vietnamese steel structure and mechanical fabrication company has signed a contract worth nearly US$61 million to supply high-tech mechanical equipment for data center and gas-fired power plant projects in the U.S..

Dai Dung Corporation said on Tuesday it had reached the deal with an undisclosed strategic U.S. partner to supply fabricated mechanical products and industrial equipment for the projects, with the contract valued at nearly VND1.6 trillion ($60.8 million).

These projects require particularly high levels of precision, safety, load-bearing capacity and durability, as well as strict compliance with project timelines, material traceability requirements, and international technical standards.

A key feature of the deal is to prioritize materials, supplies, and products from Vietnamese companies that meet these requirements.

Hoa Phat Group, a leading Vietnamese steelmaker, is helping Dai Dung bring Vietnamese steel into projects in the States.

Trinh Tien Dung, chairman of Dai Dung Corporation, said the company aims not only to take Vietnamese mechanical engineering products to global markets but also to raise the profile of the country’s mechanical engineering and manufacturing industry in global value chains.

“We want to contribute more through Vietnamese expertise, design capabilities, technology and management, thereby creating greater added value for Vietnam’s industry and contributing to the country’s development and the shared prosperity of the international community,” Dung said.

Besides sourcing its main steel supplies from Hoa Phat, Dai Dung said it is working with Tien Phong Plastic JSC and other domestic manufacturers of materials, equipment and supporting mechanical products to gradually increase the share of locally sourced inputs and create more opportunities for Vietnamese-branded products to be used in international projects.

“The value of a successful export contract does not belong to just one company but it also spreads across many domestic industries and economic sectors, from steel and plastic manufacturers and industrial suppliers to supporting mechanical firms, logistics companies, banks and thousands of engineers and workers directly involved in the production chain,” Dung said.

In addition to supplying equipment to projects in the U.S., Dai Dung continues to invest in and expand its high-tech mechanical engineering capabilities in Vietnam, including shipbuilding, port crane production, aircraft passenger boarding bridges, and lifting equipment systems.
